Most of the buildings were built by the windrush generation, best builders in the world apparently. They built the entire NHS.

Machel Emanuel, a doctor in Kingston added: "I was on the second floor of a building and there was a sustained shaking of the building. I felt dizzy. The door was slamming consistently for a while."

Blimey. He should try surviving a transfer window.

Anyway, no immediate reports of any casualties. Apart from humour.

Darlo Debs 11:59 - This ones mainly to do with the type of Earthquake, It's a sideways motion rather than upwards apparently.

Tsunami's are created by an upwards Earthquake usually of magnitude 7.5 or bigger but then lots of other factors come into play like depth, topography of the sea bed etc

How deep.does it have to.be to qualify as a tsunami?

defjam 11:55 Tue Jan 28
Re: Jamaica - Earthquake
Shouldn't be a Tsunami due to the type of earthquake it is and the depth.

Certainly a big one though to be felt in Florida.
